This year, due to ever-increasing demand (and the sellout of the first breakfast in less than a minute), the MCCA are very proud to have hosted two Mothers Day Breakfasts over 8 and 9 May.
On a beautiful sunny Melbourne Spring day, 28 Marcellin Past & Present Mums, their friends and relatives gathered at the National Gallery of Victoria.
Thank you to all of our Mums who attended the movie at Palace Cinemas Balwyn last night. It was a great chance for everybody to catch up (as evidenced by the noise level!) while enjoying a glass of champagne and some nibbles.
After a hectic start to the year, it has been great to see so many of you coming along to the various ‘Get To Know You’ events organised by your wonderful Class Reps.
The annual Past and Present Mothers Lunch was held on Monday August 22nd.
Once again it was lovely to welcome back to the school many of our past Mums who have been coming to this event for many years (and indeed some of them were the original organisers of it!).
As well we were very happy to welcome many of our current mothers and especially new Year 7 Mums. We also had a table of ‘outgoing’ Year 12 Mums who have promised to return as Past Mothers in 2017.
The day began with Mass celebrated by Father Mario Zammit. A very special service with many participants and a great contribution from Fiona Dyball and the Champagnat Choir. The service was very well received and we would like to thank Fr Mario and the Choir for leading us in our worship.
The Mums then headed into the Functions Room where they were welcomed with a glass of champagne. Much conversation and catching up then began!....
A group of Marcellin's Past and Present Mothers met at The Pullman on the Park on a crisp Tuesday morning in June to be collected by mini-bus for a tour of Hecker Guthrie rearranges William Johnston's Collection.
The Johnston Collection is an historic townhouse in East Melbourne filled with William Johnston's amazing collection of antiques, artwork and collectables. Three times a year, the collection is "rearranged" and our group were fortunate to enjoy the arrangement of Paul Hecker and Hamish Guthrie, of Hecker Guthrie, a most respected Melbourne interior design studio. The tour led by Anne, was incredibly informative, and there was nothing she didn't know about the hundreds of antiques and collectables that were on display.
All of the ladies present had a lovely morning and thoroughly enjoyed this fascinating collection. On return to The Pullman, they met for a coffee, de-brief and starting planning where the next event. Stay tuned...
It was great to feel the wonderful buzz of conversation around the room as we sipped on champagne before the movie. It was funny having to remind a few of the groups that we were actually there to see a movie!......
Marcellin's Past and Present Mothers were blessed with a perfect spring morning to enjoy the beautiful surrounds of Heide Gardens and Gallery on Wednesday 14 October.
Everyone enjoyed a relaxed chat over coffee and cake at Cafe Vue, before heading off on a guided tour of "Modern Love - The Lives of John and Sunday Reed". It was wonderful to learn the history of Heide, and The Reeds, who made an incredible contribution to the arts - and in our local area!
Thank you to all of the ladies who came along to make it a most successful event.
There was a great response to our first ever Movie Night. Over 120 past and present mums, along with friends, enjoyed a chat over a glass of champagne before the movie.
There was a palpable buzz before, during and after the movie and literally generations of Marcellin families were represented.
Thanks to all those who attended - you keep our connection alive and strong!
Marcellin past mums Pam Fraser and Joan McLachlan talk about their personal connection with the College - first as mums and then as past mums. Together they provide wonderful anecdotes about their experiences at Marcellin. They speak of their friendship and their desire to see the Past & Present Mothers concept continue to grow in the Marcellin Community.
